Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Papillion, NE

Our Knowledgeable Team is Here to Help

We understand that dentistry can be complicated, especially when it’s dental services for other members of your family. Our goal is to educate as much as necessary to help you feel comfortable and confident about your child’s future care. You can read a handful of the most common questions we’ve heard below for your convenience.

How often should I bring my child for a checkup?

We recommend that you bring your child in for a routine checkup at least once every six months. Their first checkup should occur within six months of their first tooth erupting or by their first birthday, depending on which happens sooner. During these visits, we’ll be able to not only clean and examine their teeth but catch any underlying issues before they turn into serious or expensive dental concerns.

Are sealants worth it?

We certainly believe they are! As your child ages, they will need to get used to brushing and flossing on a regular basis. Unfortunately, this process takes time and a certain level of dexterity, which may be difficult for them at first. In order to give them extra protection as they get used to these habits, we often recommend dental sealants for their most vulnerable teeth.

How do you fix a cavity?

It depends on the size of the cavity. If the cavity is small enough, we may only need to use a dental filling to prevent it from getting any larger. If the cavity is more severe, a pediatric crown may be more appropriate. Going forward, we may recommend preventive treatments like silver diamine fluoride to stop the development of cavities in their earliest stages.

Dr. Bryce is highly experienced in helping young patients with special needs feel comfortable and prepared ahead of, during, and after their dental appointment.
